At the formation celebration of 249 Gurkha Signal Squadron on 29th May 2019 two items of memorabilia were presented to Major James Corns, the new OC of the Squadron. The items were a 249 Squadron tie from the mid sixties era and a FARELF cloth formation flash in a presentation frame together with a book on the history of the first forty years of The Queen's Gurkha Signals.

The items were donated by Major Tom Scarff who served in the Squadron (1965 to 1967) as OC of HF Radio Troop. He was unable to attend the celebration as he lives in Thailand but the items were presented on his behalf by Jon Edgington (1969 to 1971, HF Radio Troop and 649 Signal Troop).

Also in the photograph is Hamish Mackinlay who was Officer Commanding the Squadron from 1969 to 1971.
